Summer of Robotics

It’s been an exciting summer at Explorium, with robotics taking centre stage.

This summer, we set out to shine a light on the fascinating world of robotics and the people behind it. Our Discovery and Learning team developed a packed programme of robotics activities for visitors of all ages, including daily robotics shows, hands-on discovery workshops and our specially themed adult-only Late Lab events. We also welcomed a temporary exhibition celebrating robotic creations from Irish inventor Dr. Peter Redmond, giving visitors the opportunity to explore some of the innovative ideas and engineering taking place right here in Ireland.

The response has been fantastic, with families, young people and adults getting stuck into the challenges, experiments and conversations around robotics. It has been particularly rewarding to see visitors move beyond simply watching robots in action and start asking questions about how they work, how they are designed and what role robotics might play in our future.

And the robotics fun isn’t over just yet.

Our robotics programme and activities continue at Explorium until 27th September, giving you one final opportunity to get involved. Whether you’re a budding engineer, a curious family, a robotics enthusiast or simply looking for something different to do in Dublin, there’s still time to come and explore the world of robotics for yourself.

Below, staff member Jack, a current engineering student working at Explorium, has included a short account of the events led by our  Discovery and Learning team to share his perspective on robotics, engineering and what made this summer special.
